Task topics (also called "procedural topics" or step-by-step topics") give step-by-step instructions on how to perform a task. These types of topics focus on how rather than what or why. Task topics should be brief and to the point. If you have more than 10 steps, you should break up the information into separate topics.
If there are multiple ways to perform a task, use only one method in your topic (usually the simplest, most common method). If you want to include information about alternative methods, provide access to them using hyperlinks.

Simply put, information topics provide users with important facts. Information topics are critical to your project, but do not contain task or procedural steps. Most projects are built on a foundation of information topics and task topics, with links leading to other types of topics. The size of information topics can vary greatly, from short and focused to large and dense (if a topic becomes too large, however, it is best to split it into two or more topics).
Use this space to provide information that is critical to your users.
